Cooooool. I just placed my order for Godblog today. I know, I'm a loooooser. But it's in stock again--I'm gonna get one! w00tw00t!
I am so stoked (Southern California surfer lingo for, "So awfully delighted") that this novel is getting close to being a public reality. Press on, my friend and don't be swayed in the quest to live your dream.
I just re-read my comment and realize I sound like a total ass. What I meant was, I am a looooser for having waited so stupidly long to place my order that Amazon ran out of copies and I had to get in a damn line with the rest of of the dorks who didn't have the sense to pre-order. I was sweating last week when I thought I was SOL for goodness knows how long. Cranky's already half done with hers and mine hasn't even shipped yet! But at least I'm getting one now. *wipes brow*
I knew what you meant, IG! And Amazon didn't run out -- this is the first shipping they're doing right now. You're in on the ground floor, as it were.
Eggggsellent. :-D
*laughing at IG*
I knew exactly what you meant, too, IG!

I just checked Amazon and they I might be getting my copy between Dec. 19th and Jan 5. Nothing like narrowing it down, Amazon! ;)

Wait. You promised me pirates! What good is a novel without pirates?? There's probably no talking cats or magic wands or comets either.

I kid, I kid. I shall order my copy anon.
I was meaning to ask you about #7 & #9!! Absolutely slipped my mind.
I even bought the shirt and posted about it mid-summer.
I just got email notification that my copy of Godblog has shipped. w00tw00tw00t!

I'm definitely looking forward to getting my copy of Godblog!
And I love your new, sensational profile pic!
I can't wait to get mine, especially after all these insider tips. I'm going to look for the skull and x-bones text images...
They're used as bullets to mark some of the blog posts in the text. You can't miss 'em, but they're only in the last part of the book.
HOLY SHIT Laurie, did you see? You're the "Voxer in the Spotlight" on the Explore page. They're basically doing an all-Laurie pimpfest over there! In the nicest possible way of course. Yer a star!
isn't it great?
cranky sent the suggestion in, awesome!
Ahhhh...that cranky. She's a crafty one. :-D

Hi laurie,

Congratulations on your publication. As a full-time barista at Starbucks, I think I am going to really enjoy your book! I would love to ask you a couple of questions about being a fiction writer, but of course, I know you are busy. Perhaps after your touring is over, I can pick your brain for five or ten minutes.

With love and respect,

Hey, you're on my Vox front page right now. Well done!
SUPERSTAR!!!11!!!
"...Hey now, you're a Voxstar, get your game on, go play.
Hey now, you're a Voxstar, get your show on, get paid.
(all that glitters is Godblog)
Only shooting stars break the mold..."
I knew someone would come up with a theme song for this! Yay!
Hehe. The Mythbusters recently debunked the "hit the ground running" part, though. Just does not help.
Dang, more Godblog teases.
Any chance they might have delivered it since 9pm?
I could check the mail box again.
sigh
Yay, Laurie!! You've been our Spotlight star for a long time.

Just saw the VOX Spotlight and went, "Hey! I know both writers who got up there! I hang with the right crowd!"

And also, "I have so many books to read!"

Way to go, Lauie! Can't wait to get one. Although, if Gord is a trouble maker, he could render the whole "people or events are purely fictional" disclaimer hard to qualify... :-P Heh, heh.
I made sure I got Gord's permission. People are often very flattered to have their names used for characters. Some charities get authors to use a character naming as a auctionable item for fundraising.
I was just kidding around, so you know. :) I suspect only the most private and/or uptight people would have a problem with granted such an honor.

Sorry I misspelled your name in my last comment. I was still about 12% asleep.
Hi, bloggerbird! I hope as a real barista, the book rings true to you. I used a friend-of-a-friend who had worked at Starbucks as a technical consultant. If you want to PM me your questions, I'll probably have time to answer them after the end of the month. I'm not doing a grand tour, but my Toronto launch and Ottawa signing are withing days of each other next week.
congrats! :)
I second gunderson bee, I guess it got in my bonnette, ooohhh, I know.
