10 Fun (and spoiler-free) facts about Godblog
To commemorate the fact that Godblog is now shipping to my US peeps, I decided to post a little Godblog trivia.
1. It may not be my pirate novel, but there are still actual skull-and-crossbones graphics right in the text.
2. Drama Queen's journal and a good chunk of her personal history were created in and cannibalized from an unpublished short story I wrote (which I think is pretty good on its own).
3. I never had a blog till I after I wrote Godblog. (thanks, CuteOverload for leading me to Vox!)
4. Though it's about a barista and lots of the scenes take place in coffee shops, I don't drink coffee and had to have a cheat sheet to know one coffee drink from another for those scenes.
5. I don't snowboard and had to pick up the lingo from snowboarding magazines and websites.
6. The BlackArts coffee chain appears again, in the new novel I'm writing, too. Some characters stop in a couple of times for coffee.
7. The coffee shop manager named Gord who hums opera all day at work is named after a friend of mine who's an international opera singer.
8. Despite the fact that we only met in mid-August, Cap'n Crook's real first name manages to appear exactly once in the story.
9. The "Swedish Mafia" T-shirt that Dag receives for Christmas actually exists
. It can be bought from Glarkware.com, the place he mentions in the book.
10. Though it's all about Dag's identity crisis, Godblog is told entirely without going into Dag's point-of view even once.
Happy reading!

I knew exactly what you meant, too, IG!
I just checked Amazon and they I might be getting my copy between Dec. 19th and Jan 5. Nothing like narrowing it down, Amazon! ;)
I kid, I kid. I shall order my copy anon.
And I love your new, sensational profile pic!
cranky sent the suggestion in, awesome!
Hi laurie,
Congratulations on your publication. As a full-time barista at Starbucks, I think I am going to really enjoy your book! I would love to ask you a couple of questions about being a fiction writer, but of course, I know you are busy. Perhaps after your touring is over, I can pick your brain for five or ten minutes.
With love and respect,

Hey now, you're a Voxstar, get your show on, get paid.
(all that glitters is Godblog)
Only shooting stars break the mold..."
Any chance they might have delivered it since 9pm?
I could check the mail box again.
sigh
And also, "I have so many books to read!"
Way to go, Lauie! Can't wait to get one. Although, if Gord is a trouble maker, he could render the whole "people or events are purely fictional" disclaimer hard to qualify... :-P Heh, heh.
Sorry I misspelled your name in my last comment. I was still about 12% asleep.
